An occasional Visitor

Monday, November 13th, 2006

I am an occasional visitor to my own blog. It always is like this; we start with the intention of doing something as a resolution for the year or acedemic year or a new life. I started my life in London with the resolve of capturing it through this blog, but it seems that I have strayed along the way… No matter, we live as we must. Not having captured every single nuance means having a beautifully vague memory. It allows me to experience the nostalgia of a romanticised past. Well, enough of that. What have I been up to lately?

I am finding this new life away from my parents a little bit overwhelming. I wake up in the morning with the feeling that my life is disorganised, and that it is entirely up to me to sort it out. And my feelings are right. I am disorganised beyond imagination. I am behind on my uni work, even if it is only A-Level revision. I haven’t sorted my bank account. I haven’t gone shopping. All these and many other small things are making my life truly a great mess. It is times like these that I miss home and the conformity and organisation the regime of my parents provided. I do not despair; that would be insulting the Almighty. I have faith that I will get out of my mess, bit by little bit.

As part of my efforts to increase my online interactions, I have joined a forum. This particular one: www.battleforums.com consists mainly of Americans in their teens and early 20s. There is a lot of nonsense, a lot of "OMG YOU SUXXORS, NO YOU IS N00B" flaming, proving once again the validity of South Park as a source of American cultural learnings. This brings me to my next point; I just downloaded and watched "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan". It’s gut-wrenchingly funny on one hand, but is a disgracefully offensive movie on the other. Seriously, the movie pokes fun at everyone, including Kazakhs, Americans, Texans, Jews and others. Really, I have a friend from Azerbaijan, and even he is offended, despite Kazakhstan only being remotely similar to Azerbaijan. I heard that many eastern Europeans were also offended. I dare say that this movie will never be approved in Malaysia (but the pirates will sell it anyway).

Finally, I have to say that it’s good to be back, from the depths of nothingness out into the open. I hope I’ll keep this up, but I do not make any promises.
